Obituary
Leamington Post, Thursday 10 Oct 1946-pg.10

Leamington Reeve Laid To Rest Sunday

Service held at home with town and county

Officials and Employees Present

In one of the largest funerals held in the town of Leamington, Andrew Howard Noble, reeve of the town and one of the town's most liked citizen's, was laid to rest in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery on Sunday afternoon. The late Mr Noble died after a brief illness on Thursday evening last. He was 75 years of age.

As reeve of the town, the late Mr Noble was outstanding in the discharge of his responsibilities and in his earnestness to serve the town in that capacity. While not in the best of health since undergoing an operation last Christmas, Mr Noble had continued to look after his works as Chairman of the Board of Works Committee and rarely missed a council meeting. He was in attendance at a special meeting of that council held Monday afternoon when he appeared to be in fairly good health.

Born in Grey county, the son of the late Andrew Noble and Annie Cotton, the late reeve came to this district as a small child with his parents in 1879. They settled on Concession C in Mersea twonship and Mr Noble attended the Gore Hill school. In 1901, he was married to the late Edith Malott who passed away in 1940.

Mr Noble's record in public life in Leamington is a lengthy one. He was one of the members of the 1st Hydro-Electric Commission and was instrumental in the intrduction of hydro electric power in Leamington. In 1915, he wa elected to the town council, served as depty-reeve in 1916 and was reeve for the next 3 years. Returning to politics in 1933, Mr Noble served as deputy-reeve for 4 years and in 1938 became reeve, a position he held until his death.

He was also a member of the Old Age Pension's Board and the Mother's Allowance Board. He attended Leaamington United Church.

Surviving are 1 daughter, Mrs Verna Koyle, who resided with her father, also 3 sisters, Mrs Henry Armstrong of Windsor, Mrs Stanley Ainslie of London Mrs J.L. Smith of Cleveland, Ohio and 1 brother Charles Malott of New York City.

The funeral services were held at Mr Noble's late home, Victoria avenue adet 2.30 on Sunday with Rev Sidney Davison officiating. Honorry pall-bearers at the funeral were Mayor Phil Fader, Deputy-Reeve W.S. Otion, Councillors D.M. MacGregor, R.M. Armstrong, Geo F Clarke, Fred Becom, Tom Clark, W.E. Belkirk, also members and employees of the Essex County Council. They formed a guard of honor as the casket was removed from the home to the street and also at the grave side. Interment followed in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery. The profusion of flowers and the large attendance at the funeral testified to the request and esteem in which the late Mr Noble was held both in Leamington and the entire community.

Obituary
